About Us

Realizing the need for systematic thinking and pro-acting in view of the present challenges and trends in education, the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres’ Commission on Education was organized in 1971. The Educators' Congress in 1995 approved the creation of an ad hoc committee to study more deeply the nature, scope, possibilities, and implications of organizing a St. Paul Schools System.

St. Paul University System was planned and put into process in the early 2000 to meet the emerging challenges and demands of the education system of the 21st century. The SPUSystem is particularly aligned to unify Paulinian institutions in the strengthening of systems, structures, and programs and in ensuring optimal use of resources for the effective delivery of quality education and services through collaboration, complementation, and sharing.

In 2002, the St. Paul University System was established to unify autonomous and deregulated Paulinian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the strengthening of systems, structures, and programs and in ensuring optimal use of resources for the effective delivery of quality education and services through collaboration, complementation and sharing.

On February 10, 2004, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), by virtue of Memorandum Order No. 08, Series 2003, entitled "Grant of University System Title to Higher Education Institutions” and Commission En Banc Resolution No. 066 Series of 2004, awarded the St. Paul University System title to the 6-member schools, namely: St. Paul University Philippines, St. Paul University Manila, St. Paul University Quezon City, St. Paul University Dumaguete, St. Paul University Iloilo and St. Paul University Surigao

The St. Paul University System was officially recognized and awarded accreditation last March 10, 2004 by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED).

The St. Paul University System is a network of Paulinian educational institutions bound by its commitment to form Christ-centered, integrated, and competent persons in the service of the Church and society.

Through collaboration, complementation and resource sharing, the system ensures the delivery of quality programs and services by its members, thus affirming its leadership role in education for social transformation.

To be able to affirm SPC Education Ministry’s leadership role in education, the St. Paul University System has the following goals:

  • To unify the Paulinian educational institutions to be able to strengthen systems, policies, structures and programs for the effective delivery of quality education; and
  • To ensure optimal use of resources of Paulinian educational institutions in the delivery of quality education and services through collaboration, complementation and sharing.

It is worth noting that St. Paul University System is the first University System recognized by CHED.
